Northern hospitals better, says CHIHospitals in the north of England and the Midlands are better managed in terms of clinical governance than those in the south and London, according to the Commission for Health Improvement. Peter Homa, chief executive of CHI, said: “From our inspections a clear picture is emerging. National Health Service bodies in the north and Midlands have better working systems in place to deliver high quality care than those in the south.” The review found that four of the seven components of clinical governance commonly cause concern during CHI inspections. These are risk management, staffing and staff management, patient involvement and use of information. Few hospitals have yet been given its top score for clinical governance. Too few inspections have been done in Wales to draw any conclusions. |
