Smoking cessation pioneer reaches 90Sir Richard Doll, emeritus professor of medicine and vice president of the smoking cessation charity QUIT, celebrated his 90th birthday at a lunch held at London's Victoria and Albert Museum, on 29 November. The event celebrated the work he has carried out over more than 50 years in establishing a link between smoking and cancer. In 1950, he provided the first statistical proof of the link between cancer and smoking. |
