Copegus tablets
Copegus (ribavirin) 200mg tablets have been launched (Roche Products); net price, 42 £124.32, 168 £497.28. Copegus tablets are indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C and must only be used as part of a combination regimen with interferon alfa-2a.

Tamiflu suspension
Tamiflu (oseltamivir) 12mg/ml powder for oral suspension has been launched (Roche); net price, 100ml £18.18.

Asmanex Twisthaler
Asmanex (mometasone furoate) Twisthaler has been launched (Schering-Plough); net price, 200µg 30 doses £16, 200µg 60 doses £24, 400µg 30 doses £22.40, 400µg 60 doses £36.75.

Actonel Once a Week tablets
Actonel (risedronate sodium) Once a Week 35mg tablets are being launched (Aventis Pharma); net price, 4 £21.83.

Gliclazide tablets
PLIVA Pharma has launched gliclazide 80mg tablets; net price, 28 £2.59.

Zolpidem tartrate tablets
Alpharma has launched zolpidem tartrate tablets; net price, 5mg 28 £3.08, 10mg 28 £4.48.

Atenolol tablets
Atenolol 50mg and 100mg tablets from Alpharma are now available in blue boxes instead of red ones.

Propylthiouracil tablets
A 56-tablet pack of propylthiouracil 50mg tablets, will be available from Celltech Pharmaceuticals from the end of January; net price, £24.90. The product was acquired from IVAX last year. Orders should be placed with Customer Services, Celltech (tel 0800 953 0183, fax 0800 953 0184).

Lagap products
Lagap Pharmaceuticals has launched the following products:

• Clonidine 25µg tablets, pack size 112; net price, £7.10

• Cetirizine 1mg/ml syrup, pack size 200ml; net price, £10.50

Baxan capsules
The pack size of Baxan (cefadroxil) capsules has been changed from 100 to 20 capsules (Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceuticals); net price, £5.64.

SPC changes

Persantin new indication
The licensed indications for Persantin (dipyridamole) ampoules have been extended (Boehringer Ingelheim). Persantin is now additionally indicated for use in children as an alternative to exercise stress in myocardial perfusion imaging, particularly in children unable to exercise or in those whom exercise may be contraindicated. More specific-ally, this may include children with Kawasaki disease complicated by coronary artery involvement, or those with congenitally abnormal coronary circulation. See SPC.

Discontinued products

Orelox oral suspension
The 50ml pack size of Orelox (cefpodoxime) Paediatric 40mg/5ml oral suspension is being discontinued with immediate effect (Aventis Pharma). Any outstanding back orders will be cancelled.
