Commons motion opposes OFT proposal

An early-day motion (EDM) has been tabled in the House of Commons urging the Government not to accept the Office of Fair Trading's recommendation that National Health Service pharmacy contract controls should be scrapped.

Tabled by Edward O'Hara (Lab, Knowsley South) on 22 January, EDM 561 notes concern that supermarkets would use their market power to undermine and eliminate small local pharmacies. EDMs are a device used by MPs to draw attention to issues about which they are concerned.

PSNC meeting The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee met Health Minister David Lammy on 28 January. He was "anxious to explore and evaluate the impact of deregulation", the PSNC said.
