Folic acid and multiple births

Consumption of 400µg of folic acid before or during early pregnancy does not increase a woman's likelihood of having a multiple birth, say researchers. This is the case whether folic acid is taken before the date of ovulation, around the time of fertilisation or after conception, they add (Lancet 2003;361:380).
