More people quit smoking

Almost 55,000 smokers gave up smoking last year with help from National Health Service smoking cessation services. This was over half of those who set a date for quitting, according to the Department of Health.

Nicotine replacement therapy on its own was used by 73 per cent of people attempting to give up, 12 per cent received bupropion (Zyban) only, and 2 per cent received both.
