DoH heart disease report published

Statin prescriptions have risen by 30 per cent a year since the National Service Framework for Coronary Heart Disease was published, adding £230m to the drugs bill, according to a new report from the Department of Health. The report says that statins are now prescribed to over a million people and are saving up to 6,000 lives each year.

The report — "Delivering better heart services" — marks the third anniversary of the NSF for CHD.
