NCC pharmacists to start counselling for depression in WalesPharmacists at 23 branches of National Co-operative Chemists in south Wales could soon be involved in counselling patients with depression. NCC is seeking ethical approval for a trial in which its pharmacists will talk to patients with depression, reminding them to collect their prescriptions and discussing queries or concerns about their treatment. The programme, called Pharmacist to Patient (P2P), is being run in collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline's +Plus medicines support service. The two companies are currently working with pharmacists on developing a counselling handbook and patient discussion aids. |
