£25,000 made available for branch meetings on CharterThe Royal Pharmaceutical Society has made extra funding of £25,000 available to its branches to encourage them to hold local meetings to discuss the proposals for a new Royal Charter. A letter sent to branch secretaries invites them to apply for extra funding of £300 each to organise local meetings. It advises that the costs of Society speakers attending the meetings will also be met by the Society. In addition, the Society is to fund and administer a series of Charter roadshows in each of the Society's English regions and in Scotland and Wales. Regional secretaries were contacted this week to invite them to host the events. The Society's President, Marshall Davies, said: "The Council is committed to ensuring that the debate among pharmacists on this key issue is as wide as possible and our branch and regional network has the key role to play in this communications programme." The proposals for a new Charter have already been discussed at three branch meetings, and the Society is pleased with the feedback it received. As a result of queries raised at those meetings, the Society has revised a document containing answers to frequently asked question about the Charter. The updated "Questions and answers on the Society's Charter" document can be accessed from the "Making the Society fit for the future" pages within the "About the Society" section of the website. |
