The JournalLetters should not engender destructive prejudiceFrom Dr E. R. McKenzie, MRPharmS I have read with dismay the letters over past weeks denigrating a valued sector of our profession: supermarket pharmacy. I have worked in this area for over 10 years after many more years as a locum and manager for independents. My experience supports the view that all pharmacies have their place in the community and pharmacists can be more comfortable with one than the other, as can our customers. If customers were not happy with our service they would not use it. We all have the same basic professional training. We can all put it to good use for the benefit of the community. I believe it is time we stopped using public correspondence to snipe at fellow professionals and use this platform to enhance the role of the pharmacist, not to engender destructive prejudice between colleagues.
