Call for 24-hour pharmacies

A substantial increase in health care delivery by pharmacists, accompanied by prescribing powers, is needed in London.

So says a joint report on primary care produced by the London Assembly and the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone.

The report, "Access to primary care", says that each primary care trust should ensure that 24-hour pharmacy services are available in at least one place to match the 24-hour services provided by general practitioners and hospitals.
