New basal insulin analogueA new basal insulin analogue, insulin detemir (Levemir), provides more predictable glycaemic control than current basal insulins, according to data presented at a Diabetes Dialogue conference held in Geneva last week. It has also been found to be associated with fewer episodes of hypoglycaemia and less weight gain than other basal insulins. Novo Nordisk expects to launch insulin detemir in the United Kingdom later this year. |
