Pegfilgrastim launched this week

A long-acting form of filgrastim (Neupogen), pegfilgrastim (Neulasta), has been launched by Amgen this week (see p510).

The new formulation contains a polyethylene glycol (PEG) molecule bonded to the filgrastim molecule and can be administered once per chemotherapy cycle rather than by daily injections, as is the case with filgrastim.
