Hundreds of members at risk of being struck off for non-payment of retention fees

Hundreds of pharmacists and pharmacy premises are still at risk of being erased from the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists for non-payment of their retention fees for 2003.

Despite the mailing to members of final reminders several weeks ago, retention fees remain unpaid for about 1,500 pharmacists, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society says.

The Society adds that, if it has not received payment from these members by 27 May 2003, then they will face being removed from the register by the Society's Registrar.

About 400 pharmacy premises are similarly facing erasure for non-payment of their fees.

Restoration following erasure from the register will require a payment of a penalty fee of £372 for members and £323 for each set of premises in addition to the retention fees.
