Imatinib and gynaecomastia

In a study of 38 men receiving imatinib (Glivec) for chronic myeloid leukaemia, seven (18 per cent) went on to develop gynaecomastia and most had a reduction in the production of testicular hormones. The hormonal changes became evident 60 to 90 days after the start of treatment (Lancet 2003;361:1954).
