Pharmacist salary agreement reached

An agreement on national salary scales for this year has been reached by the Pharmaceutical Whitley Council and representatives of healthcare pharmacists.

In terms of national salary scales for 2003/04, an increase of 3.225 per cent will be introduced with effect from 1 April 2003. London allowances will be increased by 3.225 per cent, effective from the same date.

Agreement was also reached over increases to the emergency duty commitment allowance. It too will be increased by 3.225 per cent with effect from 1 April 2003.

A letter sent by the Department of Health to chief executives of trusts states that the agreements have been approved by the Secretary of State for Health.
