New contract

Confident expectation of a new contract

From Mr P. B. Lowe, MRPharmS

How encouraging for all contractor professions that the Department of Health recognises in negotiating the new contract for our colleagues in general medical practice their need of a pay rise of approximately three times inflation in each of the next three years. Based on the high productivity of pharmacy, the nice things Government so frequently says about us, the inherent fairness and equity with which the Department deals with its service providers and the obdurate determination of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee to secure just rewards based on quality of patient care rather than profit on supply, we can now bask in the confident expectation that a contract providing for a well recognised, well motivated and well remunerated community pharmacy service will soon be in place.
