NICE issues guidance on health care-related infections

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence has issued a clinical guideline on the prevention of health care-related infections in primary and community care.

Recommendations are made about hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment and the use and disposal of sharps. In particular, measures for preventing infections associated with the use of long-term urinary catheters, enteral feeding systems and central venous catheters are made.
