OFT report still due out in middle of July

Rosie Winterton, new health minister with responsibility for pharmacy, has confirmed that the Government is still hoping to produce its response to the Office of Fair Trading report into the control of entry regulations by the end of this parliamentary session. Speaking at the summer reception of the All Party Pharmacy Group at the House of Lords earlier this week she said she also hoped to issue a draft framework for the new pharmacy contract soon.

She paid tribute to the APPG itself and acknowledged its reputation for wise counsel and being an effective lobbying organisation. APPG chairman Dr Howard Stoate, was re-elected unopposed at the meeting, with Dr Jenny Tonge and Lord Newton of Braintree to serve as vice-chairmen for the next 12 months.
