Research will look at community errors

New research into patient safety in community pharmacy is to be undertaken by the University of Manchester.

The research programme will look at types of errors and near misses in community pharmacy, including their incidence and underlying causes. It also aims to provide greater insight into the risk management culture in community pharmacy.

The programme is being jointly funded by the Community Pharmacy Research Consortium and the Department of Health. The CPRC consists of the Company Chemists Association, National Pharmaceutical Association, Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council.

Further information about the consortium can be found here.
