Alginate consultation halted

The British National Formulary's consultation on a non-proprietary name for compound alginate suspension has been halted (PJ, 19 April, p542). This is because the British Pharmacopoeia Commission is reconsidering its decision not to prepare a monograph for oral liquids containing sodium alginate BP 250mg, sodium bicarbonate BP 133.5mg and calcium carbonate BP 80mg in each 5 ml of suspension.

Ketalar

Ketalar (ketamine 10mg/ml 20ml, currently distributed in Parke-Davis livery will change to Pfizer livery during July. The EAN code will also change from 5010123667115 to 5013457011418. Pfizer's product code will be 1141. Further information from Pfizer customer services on 01304 645262.

Optilast increase

The volume size of Optilast (azelastine) eye-drops is being increased from 6ml to 8ml with immediate effect (Viatris Pharmaceuticals). The price is unchanged.
