1,000-plus attend Charter meetings

More than 1,000 members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society have attended national, regional or local meetings on a new Charter, the Society says.

The final regional roadshow was held in London on 30 June. The total attendance at the 11 roadshows was more than 250. In addition, about 700 pharmacists have attended branch meetings on the issue.

Council member Andrew Burr said: "As a result of these meetings and the presentations given at May's annual general meeting and branch representatives meeting, over 1,000 pharmacists will be directly engaged in the debate. The Society will continue to consult the membership through the pharmacy media and this week's Pharmaceutical Journal includes a further detailed report on the draft Charter and a feedback form to gauge members' views. In addition pharmacists can also give their views via the Society's website, www.rpsgb.org.uk.

"The draft Royal Charter will play an important role in helping to shape the future of our profession and I would encourage the membership, if they have not done so already, to get involved in the consultation process."
