Agency staff spending hits high

Spending on agency staff to work in the National Health Service has increased by 147 per cent since 1997, according to research by the Liberal Democrat party. It showed that between 1997 and 2002, the NHS spent £2.5bn on agency staff. Some of this total includes pharmacists and pharmacy technicians but a breakdown of the results is not available.
