NSAIDs lower Alzheimer's riskA review published this week in the BMJ lends support to the hypothesis that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs lower the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease (2003;327:128). Canadian researchers found that NSAID use seemed to offer some protection against development of the disease and the benefits were greater the longer NSAIDs were used. The data also suggested that aspirin may have a protective effect although the finding was not statistically significant. |
