Treat anxiety and depression

Pharmaceutical companies should stop developing drugs for "niche" diagnoses and should concentrate on the production of drugs for the most common psychiatric disorder — mixed anxiety and depression, say researchers. They argue that recent changes to the classification of psychiatric disorders are encouraging companies to develop drugs that are of questionable clinical value (BMJ 2003;327:158).
