US task force advises on vitamins

People should not take beta-carotene supplements to lower their chances of developing cardiovascular disease or cancer, according to new advice from the United States Preventive Services Task Force. In addition, the USPSTF says it cannot make recommendations either for or against the use of vitamins A, C or E, multivitamins with folic acid, or combinations of these vitamins for the primary purpose of preventing these diseases.
