Acarbose reduces CV riskTreating impaired glucose tolerance with acarbose (Glucobay) can reduce risk of cardiovascular disease, suggest Canadian researchers. They found that acarbose treatment was associated with decreased postprandial hyperglycaemia, a 49 per cent relative risk reduction in the development of cardiovascular events and a 2.5 per cent absolute risk reduction (JAMA 2003;290:486). |
