Rob Darracott: pivotal role

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has appointed Rob Darracott as its new Director of Corporate and Strategic Development, completing the Society's new directorate structure.

Mr Darracott, a pharmacist, is currently director of European professional services for Alliance UniChem Retail International. He will join the Society on 3 November. The Society says: “In this new position he will play a pivotal role particularly in driving forward corporate strategy to support the Society’s new ways of working, dealing with corporate and strategic development, corporate resource such as policy development and research, human resources and performance management.”

Mr Darracott joined Alliance UniChem in 1995 to establish an innovative services department in Moss Pharmacy. He also ran the office of the Alliance UniChem European Pharmacists Forum, a group of pharmacists from eight European countries who meet on a regular basis to exchange information and provide advice from the pharmacist perspective to Alliance UniChem. Before joining Moss, he was a policy adviser in the United Kingdom Department of Health, working with the pharmacy team on remuneration and reimbursement. He also has experience of pharmacy journalism.

The Society’s Secretary and Registrar, Ann Lewis, said: “I am delighted to welcome Rob to the directorate team. He brings a wealth of experience to the role and I look forward to working with him, along with the rest of my team, to take the organisation forward and strengthen the integrated roles of the Society as a modern regulatory body and professional organisation for pharmacy.”
