Director of Corporate and Strategic Development appointed

Rob Darracott: pivotal role |
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has appointed Rob Darracott as its new Director of Corporate and Strategic Development, completing the Society's new directorate structure.
Mr Darracott, a pharmacist, is currently director of European professional
services for Alliance UniChem Retail International. He will join the
Society on 3 November. The Society says: “In this new position
he will play a pivotal role particularly in driving forward corporate
strategy to support the Society’s new ways of working, dealing
with corporate and strategic development, corporate resource such as
policy development and research, human resources and performance management.”
Mr Darracott joined Alliance UniChem in 1995 to establish an innovative
services department in Moss Pharmacy. In his most recent role, he oversaw
the creation of professional services activities within the Alliance
UniChem retail businesses in Norway, Holland, Italy and Switzerland,
and was a member of the business development team researching new markets.
He also ran the office of the Alliance UniChem European Pharmacists Forum,
a group of pharmacists from eight European countries who meet on a regular
basis to exchange information and provide advice from the pharmacist
perspective to Alliance UniChem. Before joining Moss, he was a policy
adviser in the United Kingdom Department of Health, working with the
pharmacy team on remuneration and reimbursement. He also has experience
of pharmacy journalism.
The Society’s Secretary and Registrar, Ann Lewis, said: “I
am delighted to welcome Rob to the directorate team. He brings a wealth
of experience to the role and I look forward to working with him, along
with the rest of my team, to take the organisation forward and strengthen
the integrated roles of the Society as a modern regulatory body and professional
organisation for pharmacy.”
