Lambeth library loan requests and renewals can now be made online

Members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and other registered users of its Lambeth library now have access to an online service for making loan requests, placing reservations, renewing loans and checking their library account.

The new service, which will be demonstrated on the Society’s stand at the British Pharmaceutical Conference next week, is the latest phase in the development of the Society’s online library catalogue, which was launched earlier this year (PJ, 26 April, p596).

The catalogue, which is designed to be easily searchable, contains details of thousands of titles added to the library since 1991, plus selected titles published earlier. For many items it also offers links to electronic full text versions to give 24-hour access to important information resources.

Commenting on the new catalogue features, the Society’s librarian, Roddy Morrison, said: “This is another step in developing a ‘hybrid’ library that can deliver services to members whenever and wherever they want. The catalogue holds information on over 16,000 items held by the library, the vast majority of which are available for loan.”

The online catalogue is available at olib.rpsgb.org.uk or through the information centre section of the Society’s website.
