Prevent diseases to reduce falls

Chronic diseases are more important predictors of falling than polypharmacy, say researchers. Therefore, targeting prevention and control of chronic diseases rather than polypharmacy may be a more useful public health strategy for preventing falls in the elderly, they suggest (BMJ 2003;327:712).
