July retail sales figures
The value of retail sales for July 2003, under the classification of
pharmaceutical sales, was up one point at 137.
The classification of the retail sale of pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic
and toilet goods excludes National Health Service receipts. The figures
are based on returns made by a number of large retail pharmacy chains,
but exclude Boots The Chemists Ltd, which is classified under non-specialised
retail stores. The figures are compiled by the Office for National Statistics.
Viscotears
Viscotears (carbomer 980) single-dose units will now be available in
packs of 30 and will be in new containers made from a softer plastic;
net price, 30 £5.75. The packs of 15 are being discontinued (Novartis).
Dovobet ointment
Dovobet (betamethasone 0.05 per cent and calcipotriol 50µg/g) ointment
will be available in 60g tubes from the middle of October; net price,
60g £35. Dovobet ointment 120g tubes are being discontinued. (Leo
