Changes to aspirin labelling and leaflets: transitional period for 75mg productsA Law and Ethics Bulletin item last week (p432) outlined new labelling and leaflet requirements for aspirin and aloxiprin, effective from 1 October. Revised wording has been introduced because of the possible link between aspirin use in children and Reye’s syndrome. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has now advised that aspirin 75mg products bearing the existing warnings may continue to be supplied until 1 April 2004, as may those few products that contain other amounts of aspirin and are indicated for use in adults only for the prevention of heart disease. |
