GABA-A agonist in trial for insomniaGaboxadol, a gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor agonist has entered a phase III clinical trial for treating insomnia. The trial is a randomised, double blind, multi-centre (100 sites in Europe and Canada) study in 650 patients with primary insomnia. In previous trials, sleep efficiency and night awakenings were found to be improved, with no signs of abuse potential compared with other hypnotic agents. |
