Welsh Executive: Welcome for revised draft Charter
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Welsh Executive has unanimously endorsed the Society's revised draft Charter (centre pull-out,
PJ, 18 October) PDF (100K).
At its meeting on 14 October, the executive carried a motion welcoming
and wholeheartedly endorsing the new draft. Particular support was expressed
for the inclusion of the object “to safeguard, maintain the honour,
and promote the effectiveness and interests of the profession of pharmacy”,
the clarity provided by the new wording, and the reference to devolution.
The executive made its decision after receiving a presentation from the
chairman of the Council’s Modernisation Steering Group, Marshall
Davies.
The chairman of the executive, Andrea Robinson, said that the revisions
to the draft had fully addressed the issues raised by the executive in
response to the earlier “Changing the Charter” consultation.
The executive had submitted that a specific reference to Scotland and
Wales was needed to underpin the Scottish and Welsh Departments. This
was essential to ensure that the Society was fully equipped and empowered
to respond to devolved issues and to maintain its credibility with devolved
administrations.
