SpecialsBasic equipment often not available for taskFrom Mrs M. A. Chapman, MRPharmS Mrs West (PJ, 18 October, p545) missed the central point of my
letter (PJ, 11 October, p491). Although I agree with her about making simple
ointments, the reality in many shops is that laboratories are used routinely.
This is because it is quite common to find basic equipment, eg, scales,
mixing slab, palette knife, jars of the required size, missing. Locums
