Postcode prescribing review

The Government is to review access to cancer drugs recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence, following pressure from cancer charities. A recent audit of trastuzumab (Herceptin) prescribing conducted by Roche for CancerBACUP compared sales data with the projected number of women with advanced breast cancer who would be fit enough for treatment. It showed that nationally only 33 per cent of eligible women are receiving trastuzumab.
