Mixed results for cannabis in MSCannabinoids could be used to improve patients' mobility and pain control in multiple sclerosis, say researchers (Lancet 2003;362:1517). They conducted a placebo-controlled trial of oral cannabis extract and D9-tetrahydrocannabinol in 630 patients. No improvement in spasticity scores were observed in either group after 15 weeks of treatment but there was some objective improvement in mobility and patients reported an improvement in pain. |
