Restart control of entry lobby, urges NPA

Community pharmacists are being urged by the National Pharmaceutical Association to reinvigorate local campaigning on control of entry ahead of the 21 November deadline for responses to the Government's “balanced package of measures”.

The NPA has sent its members a two-page summary of its “Getting the balance right” campaign, and is urging them to step up lobbying of local and national politicians, primary care trusts and other health care professionals.

The document says that the new test of “choice and competition” and the four exemptions from control of entry proposed in the “balanced package of measures” need to be defined and implemented in a way that supports local pharmacy services.
