Fish oils not antiarrhythmic

Fish oils do not have antiarrhythmic effects, research suggests. American researchers assessed whether an antiarrhythmic effect was the mechanism behind omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids’ known cardiovascular benefits. However, in the study of 200 patients who had had ventricular tachyarrhythmia, no benefit of fish oils was found.

The Journal’s attendance at the AHA conference was made possible by Pfizer. Coverage of the conference continues next week.
