Society's museum in media spotlight
A web-based exhibition commemorating the innovations, inventions and successes of pharmacists has led to a regular slot on BBC Three Counties Radio for Briony Hudson, the keeper of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's museum collections.
Ms Hudson has so far appeared twice on John Pilgrim’s day time
Out and About radio show, which reaches an audience across Bedfordshire,
Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
John Pilgrim became interested in the museum’s online exhibition, “Pharmacy —the
mother of invention?”, after taking a call from one of his listeners
who wanted to know the history of Eno’s Fruit Salts. After calling
the Society’s press office, the BBC team were put in contact with
Ms Hudson, who agreed to do a monthly, 10-minute slot based around the
pharmacists featured in the exhibition.
Ms Hudson said: “It is always good to get an opportunity to promote
the history of pharmacy in new and interesting ways. By focusing on individuals
who have had a major impact outside the profession or whose products
have become household names, we are able to show people who have no prior
knowledge of pharmacy the influence that pharmacists have had on their
everyday lives. |
