Supplementary prescribing training on the way in Wales

Application forms for supplementary prescribing courses in Wales are being finalised and are expected to be available next month.

Funding of £500,000 for supplementary prescribing training was announced by the Welsh Assembly earlier this year for about 250 course places for pharmacists and nurses (PJ, 5 July, p4). The Welsh Assembly is hosting three roadshows to promote supplementary prescribing, to those planning or managing services where prescribing is involved.

Anne Hinchliffe, supplementary prescribing project manager at the Welsh Assembly, told The Journal: “Pharmacists interested in becoming supplementary prescribers are encouraged to speak to their local health board or trust to ensure they have support.”
