NICE restricts use of anakinra

Anakinra (Kineret), an interleukin-1 inhibitor, is not recommended for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, except in the context of a controlled, long-term clinical trial, says the National Institute for Clinical Excellence. NICE suggests that patients currently treated with anakinra for rheumatoid arthritis should continue therapy until they and their consultant consider it appropriate to stop.

The full guidance is available on the NICE website.
