Refit boosts business for UniChem award winner

Unnat Patel (centre), accompanied by his wife Hatel, receives his Great Business overall winner award from David Coles, managing director of UniChem

A total refit of Medicine Box Chemist, Leicester, and the provision of an extended range of services has led to Unnat Patel being named overall winner of the UniChem Great Business awards for 2003.

Mr Patel promoted his new-look pharmacy and its services with local television, radio and press advertising. He also has a branded Volkswagen Beetle car used for collection and delivery of repeat prescriptions.

Other winners were Glen Thompson of Rossett Pharmacy, north Wales, in promoting the business category; Andrew Norman of Bruton Pharmacy, Somerset, for business development (which also involved a pharmacy refit); Paul Benson of Manchester, for professional development; Jeetender Singh Sahota of Rajja Chemists, Birmingham, as young pharmacist of the year; and Nichola Folan, also of Rossett Pharmacy, north Wales, as pharmacy assistant of the year.

Graham Phillips, of St Albans, was given a special award for his efforts to combat the challenges posed by the Office of Fair Trading report on the control of entry regulations.
