Wyeth HRT products
The summary of product characteristics for Premarin, Premique, Premique
Cycle, Prempak-C and Premarin vaginal cream have been updated (Wyeth).
Continuous combined therapy (Premique) and oestrogen only therapy (Premarin)
are now only recommended for postmenopausal use. For treatment of postmenopausal
symptoms the lowest effective dose should be used. History of thromboembolic
risk factors, hypertension, liver disorders and diabetes are now listed
as conditions requiring supervision. Porphyria has been added to the
list of contraindications, and the undesirable effects section has
been extended. Warnings about cancers and cardiovascular effects have
been reworded. See SPC.
Cardura
The summary of product characteristics for Cardura (doxazosin) now clarifies
that it may be administered in the morning or evening, and can be used
in benign prostatic hyperplasia patients who are either hypertensive
or normotensive (Pfizer). Information on postural hypotension and syncope
has been added. The undesirable effects section has been expanded and
a paragraph on patients with liver impairment has been added. See SPC.
