Investment needed for global health

Health care systems world-wide need to be stronger if global health goals are to be met, according to the World Health Organization.

In a new report, “The World Health Report 2003 — Shaping the Future”, WHO calls for urgent investment and international support for health care services in developing countries. “Today’s global health situation raises urgent questions about justice. In some parts of the world there is a continued expectation of longer and more comfortable life, while in many others there is despair over the failure to control disease although the means to do so exist,” it adds.
