Further wave of LPS pilots gain approval
A further wave of local pharmaceutical services pilots has been approved
by the Department of Health this month. The details were placed without
fanfare on the Department’s website.
Thirteen full proposals and 10 preliminary proposals were given consent.
Five more were deemed to require further work and were
referred back. The addition of an extra provider to an existing LPS scheme
in North Trafford, Manchester, was also approved.
Medicines management services, compliance aids provision and out-of-hours
provision were among the LPS proposals made.
Two more waves of LPS pilots are proposed for 2004 with closing dates
for applications of 1 May and 1 September.
