NHSnet link up set for all Scottish pharmacies by March 2005

Some community pharmacies in Tayside are already connected to NHSnet

All community pharmacies in Scotland will be connected to the NHSnet by the end of March 2005. The planned roll-out of the connections was announced this week by the Scottish Executive Health Department.

The first four NHS health board areas to have pharmacies connected were Tayside, Fife, Ayrshire and Arran, and Forth Valley. Many pharmacies in these areas have already been connected and this will be completed by March this year.

The next phase of the programme will involve the Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, Lanarkshire, Grampian, Argyll and Clyde, and Shetland. The final phase includes Glasgow, Lothian, Orkney, Western Isles and Highland.
