Launch of new website for Society's Scottish Department

Society's Scottish Department website

The home page of the new Scottish Department website

The Scottish Department of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has launched a new website giving detailed information about the department and its activities. The new site can be found at here.

The website explains the role of the Scottish Department and the Scottish Executive and lists executive members. It also gives details of the Scottish Department staff and their principal responsibilities.

A page about the department’s Edinburgh headquarters gives a brief history and description of the building, with a map and directions and information about room hire.

The site also includes a list of the Society’s Scottish branches, with contact details.

A news page gives access to comprehensive information about the department’s evidence to the Health Committee of the Scottish Parliament in relation to the National Health Service Reform (Scotland) Bill. Visitors to the site can download the text of the department’s written submission and the official transcript of a committee session on 6 January at which oral evidence was given on behalf of the Society by David Thomson (chairman of the Society’s Scottish Executive) and Asgher Mohammed (a community pharmacist from Paisley).

Other pages give information about Scottish Department events and publications, and an links page gives access to the website sites of relevant government and NHS bodies and health and pharmacy organisations, as well as direct access to a range of documents relating to pharmacy in Scotland.

Nigel Graham, acting secretary of the Scottish Department, said: “The website will help to keep pharmacists in Scotland informed about our activity, as well as being a useful resource for information about the development of health policy in Scotland and its effect on pharmacy practice. The website is an important tool to help keep pharmacists informed about issues that impact on pharmacy practice in Scotland.”

Mr Graham adds that the Scottish Department is keen to hear from pharmacists who have views and suggestions on the content of the site. Feedback can be e-mailed to info@rpsis.com
