Pharmacists' personal habits under scrutiny

Pharmacists, and other health professionals, have been committed to leading by example in the fight against smoking.

At the World Health Organization last week, EuroPharm Forum and the International Pharmaceutical Federation, both of which include the Royal Pharmaceutical Society among their members, signed up to a code of practice committing them to encourage individual pharmacists to be role models in tobacco control activities by not using tobacco personally and by promoting a tobacco-free culture.

The code also requires professional associations to assess and address their members’ usage of, and attitudes towards, tobacco and their behaviour.
