Nomenclature

Confusion

From Mr R. B. Chatterton, MRPharmS

I wanted to avoid pseudoephedrine so did not purchase Sudafed Dual Relief, believing from the name that the one thing it was sure to contain was pseudoephedrine. I bought Sinutab which had contained phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride when I last had it, and then went to phenylephrine hydrochloride. I now find that Sinutab contains pseudoephedrine and that Sudafed does not. Fortunately the Sinutab declares “new formula” on the pack, but I think Sudafed is a misnomer.
